Samenvatting

The research for this thesis is based on the images, articles and themes portrayed in specialised European fitness and bodybuilding consumer magazines. The main objective is to discover the elements of the fitness ideals portrayed in such magazines, and compare these ideals on a transnational level, by conducting content analysis on particular magazine literature from the UK, Holland and Spain.
