Organisation
The Mulier Institute is a private non-profit foundation. The Board of Governors is the most important organ within the foundation. This board comprises scientists from the University of Amsterdam, the University of Groningen and Utrecht University. The board is responsible for determining the mission and core tasks of the institute as well as deciding its long-term research programme. The directors are responsible for the everyday execution of research and the implementation of organisational policy. They are accountable to the Board of Governors in this regard.
The Board of Supervision consists of representatives of a variety of relevant organisations in the sports sector, such as the Netherlands Olympic Committee * Netherlands Sport Confederation (NOC*NSF), the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS), the Royal Dutch Association of Teachers of Physical Education (KVLO) and the Netherlands Institute for Sport and Physical Activity (NISB). In addition to its supervisory role it advises the Board of Governors how to attune the research programmes and organisational development of the institute to broader developments taking place in the Dutch sports world.
Aside from being an organisation with a permanent staff, the Mulier Institute is also a platform for (inter-university) collaboration and/or a (interuniversity) network organisation. Between thirty and forty people are usually involved in the Mulier Institute's various programmes and projects.
